Description

Karla in the Smith Street Shantytown she used to live in before she joined Dante and the Miracles.
Look at my little dork. Kiddo used to review library books for cash before The Order tore down her little cardboard business and confiscated her library cards for 'sabotaging' the reputations of authors and their Heroes and villains.
Clearly they didn't count on the little monster to be as ambitious as she is.

I've been wanting to do a full sketch of a Dead End setting for a while now and I figured Fresno was a good place to start, because, y'know, it's a real place where my protagonist happens to live and the conditions depicted are just as well, as hard as they seem in the real world.

This is a bit of a step up for me from an earlier project: deadendseries.deviantart.com/a…
as both backgrounds and full body illustrations are areas I strive to improve on.

First of all I have to say, that I really admire your ability to draw backgrounds. It makes this piece so much fun to look at and gives it a solid sense of vitality. Over all the picture looks like a snapshot of a scene that could occure everyday and I really like that.
The only thing you could do to increase the impact of your art on the Viewer would be to add colors or at least stronger and bolder shading. Especially in the face and the background so the picture doesn't look so flat. You already did that with the bagpack and parts of her clothes, but as I said, it would be "better" if you did that with the whole picture.
The anatomy of your character is very well balanced as well, but her fingers look a bit immobile, but I think that doesn't really hurt the atmosphere in anyway and one wouldn't be able to tell, unless they're really searching for it.
All in all a very interesting and intriguing piece of art that I enjoyed a lot ^^.
